Behemoth - Death Metal

Behemoth - Death Metal

There was a time, not so long ago, when death metal wasn't the genre of social rejects who want 'br00tal' and faux-occult 'theistic satanist' imbecilities as an outlet for the bitterness from being losers. Many of the staples of that much hated genre, deathcore - aka nu-metal with Suffocation breakdowns - can be traced to this band. Behemoth is the band that allowed the 'theistic satanists', in addition to being posers and closet Christians, to become thug wannabes. Each one of their albums is dominated by very abhorrent mob-like chugging grooves, similar to a crowd of busybodies loitering in a ghetto street corner.

That isn't the most noxious aspect of the band though, but the virtual abandonment of any standard of song-craft and technicality that paved the way for every punk-reject deathcore band to claim to play blackened death metal or 'war metal' on their basis that their three note riffs 'sound like Behemoth'. With this band, the first very obvious trait one would notice is that the death metal - deathcore, really - sound was deliberately dumbed down to appeal to the unsophisticated tastes of the unwashed masses. Radio friendly music back when the band began recording 'death metal' albums was saturated by nu-metal crap by the likes of Korn, Linkin Park and Slipknot, so Behemoth's management, seeing clear dollar signs, had the bright idea to simplify and bastardise generic death metal music in the same way Dimmu Borgir was responsible for black metal's eventual descent into goth rock oblivion, to pander to this undiscriminating group of listeners.

Avoid this mediocre deathcore band.
