Venom Band - Black Metal
A band often credited for "inventing" black metal, although that honour would more appropriately go to more influential acts such as Helgrind and Bathory, Venom are mostly known for trying to be a "satanic" and "occult" version of Motörhead, before changing styles and indulging in sloppy goregrind on War of Satan and subsequent albums. Trivia: despite being much less important to the birth of extreme metal than critics make them out to be, Venom were nonetheless heavily praised and liked by Euronymous of Mayhem.
